Work Experience/Student Placement Schemes
Each year London-based Atlas Translations Limited receives applications from around 800 students and graduates wanting to undertake a work placement at the company. After correspondence and interviews, we are able to offer placements to around 20 students of various ages and nationalities each year – all with an interest in learning about the translation industry. Students are offered full training and integration into the company.
The aims of the programme are
- To introduce students to a real-life translation environment
- To make students aware of the culture and structure of the professional translation environment and the necessary skills associated with it
- To observe and participate in translation projects and activities appropriate to their competence, building on and extending their translation-related skills
- To apply skills in the working environment, under pressure and according to deadlines – independently and part of a team.
Please note that if you are not a qualified translator, we will not be able to offer you translation experience during your placement. We can only accommodate full-time placements for a minimum of three calendar months. We are fully booked until JANUARY 2011 and will be interviewing for 2011 in Summer 2010! You should apply as early as possible as we are usually booked well in advance.
